Just a few more weeks to go.
Can you believe it? By now you have no doubt begun readying the
nest for your new arrival. Your nursery theme is set, the changing
table is awaiting its never-ending parade of diapers, and baby's
first outfit is washed and ready to go. You and your little one
have accomplished so much together in these past months, and the
best is yet to come!
So many moms at Motherwear have had and nursed their own babies
that it got us talking about all the things we gathered to get us
through our delivery and those precious first days. We packed our
bags with everything from massage oil and classical CDs, to lollipops
and hot water bottles. Now is a good time to get your things in
order so that you'll be as prepared as possible when your new bundle
of joy arrives. We want to help you succeed at breastfeeding your
new baby, so we've put together a few things we thought would be
helpful.
Packing your Breastfeeding Essentials
It is not unusual for mothers to call us when they are in early
labor to ask for that special breastfeeding product
or nursing top or nightgown they
need, but didn't get around to ordering until their "nesting
instinct" kicked in. But you still have time to save now and
avoid next day shipping. Below is a list of what many moms find
they need in the first few weeks after the birth.
(And as you shop, be sure to check out our new online Wish
List —a
convenient and easy way to let everyone know about your favorite
Motherwear styles, and your commitment to breastfeeding. Keep
track of your favorite styles, create your own list, refer back
to it as you shop, and share it with those who love you.)
Nightwear—You'll
want to feel comfortable, nurse easily and feel pretty whether
you are in the hospital or at home with visitors. We have lots
of nursing nightgowns, PJs and loungewear choices with well-designed
nursing openings.
Maternity/Nursing
Bras—Choose a few maternity & nursing bras that fit
you now, and then pick up a couple more after a few weeks when your
breasts have settled into breastfeeding. We have a complete line
of sleep, light, medium and full support bras, all with convenient
nursing access. Since the back of the band and the top of the cup
adjust on most bras, moms find that the bra that fits them now,
usually will fit them later too.
Sleep
Bra—The all-time favorite Motherwear bra! It’s comfortable
for sleeping, relaxing and lounging, is easy to nurse in, and holds
your breast pads in place.
Breast pads—Most
women leak a little, and some a lot. Our reuseable pads can be thrown
in the wash, or rinsed out in the sink. They are both economical
and environmentally-sound. Motherwear has 100% cotton, contoured
or wool pads to choose from.
Breast pump—If
your breasts get engorged after the birth, you'll be relieved to
have a good breast pump available to reduce the pressure, get the
milk started, and make it easy for your baby to latch on. Later
on, you may want to collect extra milk so that you can freeze it,
and to feed your baby and keep up your milk supply if you return
to work.
Nursing
Tops—Choose from dozens of nursing tops and sweaters that
you have something to wear home from the hospital or on that first
outing. You'll feel so much more comfortable if you have easy access
and can nurse discreetly in front of relatives and friends.
Activewear—
For casual days at home and those first outings together, nothing
is as comfortable or makes nursing as easy as our soft, cozy activewear.
From nursing tank tops and camisoles to yoga pants and two-piece
sets, we can help you feel comfortable and confident as you start
your breastfeeding experience together.
