Your pregnancy is more than half over and your baby's birth is just around the corner! This is truly an unforgettable time in your life. Here's some information on breastfeeding and nursing bras to help you make the right choices:

Common Questions
Why do I need maternity/nursing bras?
Your body goes through quite a few changes during pregnancy. Most moms find that one of these changes is an increase in breast size, which means you’ll need a size larger than what you wore pre-pregnancy. Fashion bras are simply not designed to provide the comfortable support your heavier breasts will need at this time. And of course, they do not provide the convenient access to your breasts that will be important for breastfeeding your new baby. Motherwear’s complete line of maternity and nursing bras combines both these design features into one convenient product, saving you time, effort and money—both before and after your baby is born.

When should I buy my first maternity/nursing bras?
By the 6th to the 8th month of your pregnancy, your breast size generally stabilizes and it's a good time to select your bras for maternity and breastfeeding. You can feel secure purchasing them when you first find that your pre-pregnancy bras no longer fit you comfortably.

How many maternity/nursing bras will I need?
Motherwear recommends having at least 3-4 maternity/nursing bras, so you always have a clean, dry bra available. Select 2-3 of your favorite daytime styles (perhaps in a few different fashion colors), plus 1 or 2 of our sleep/leisure bras (our most popular item!)—perfect for sleeping, relaxing and for other times when you want or need a soft bra with less support.

How do I care for my Motherwear maternity/nursing bras?
We suggest either hand washing or using your washing machine’s delicate cycle, and hang-drying to extend the life of your maternity and nursing bras. Either way, it’s best to use only cold water and regular detergent; no bleach, no additives.

Four Things to Look for When Selecting your Bras
While your belly is growing during pregnancy, so are your breasts. They need more support during pregnancy—both during the day and while sleeping. Of course this is true for breastfeeding moms as well. Motherwear bras will keep you supported and comfortable while pregnant or nursing. We have the most extensive selection of high-quality and stylish maternity & nursing bras available today, whether you're a 34B or 50J. See our complete selection in the bras section.

And as you shop, be sure to check out our new online Wish List—a convenient and easy way to keep track of your favorite styles and to let everyone know about your commitment to breastfeeding. Create your own list, refer back to it as you shop, and share it with those who love you.

Size
If you're looking for more support while you are pregnant, you can order our bras in the size that’s comfortable in your 6th to 8th month (3rd trimester) and continue to wear them right up to your due date. You can then return to wearing them once your breasts have established a balanced supply of milk. When your milk first comes in, your breasts are likely to increase an entire cup size over their usual size. To order good fitting nursing bras after your baby’s birth, we suggest ordering a bra that's one cup size up from the size you wore before pregnancy. These are guidelines but, of course, every woman's body is different. Don't know your size? Follow the measuring tips on our website, or call us for help at 800-950-2500.
